Owned and operated by Jenny Albers and her husband Bob, the garden invites visitors to enjoy the natural surroundings and pick their own bouquets. Jenny, who has lived at the farm since 2017, developed her passion for gardening there and is enthusiastic about sharing the beauty of her dahlia garden.

Hanna’s Pluktuin is a family-run, sustainable pick-your-own flower garden located in Makkinga, Friesland, Netherlands, at Bercoperweg 53 B, 8423 TR Makkinga. Established in 2023 and expanded in 2024 by Hanna Lemmens-Edema and her family, the garden invites visitors to enjoy a unique outing among meadows. The primary offering is the opportunity for guests to self-pick seasonal flowers. Upon arrival, visitors receive instructions, a pair of scissors, and a bucket, then proceed to select and cut their own bouquet. Bouquets start from €10, with the final price dependent on the type and quantity of flowers chosen.

Ecologische Pluktuin “De Peel” is a tranquil ecological self-picking garden nestled in Griendtsveen, located between water and forests. The garden was created from a passion for nature, designed to be a sanctuary for numerous insects and animals, featuring wadi’s (natural water retention areas) and consciously planted diverse flora. Visitors to the garden can enjoy picking a wide variety of produce: Flowers: The garden boasts over 15,000 spring bulbs, including various types of tulips, daffodils, and large purple alliums, which can be picked with the bulb. Throughout the season, there are hundreds of dahlia varieties, annuals, perennials, and autumn anemones, contributing to over 5000 different flower species available for creating your own bouquets. Eucalyptus and various grasses are also available, especially for autumn arrangements. Fruits: When there is a sufficient harvest, guests can pick fresh fruits such as Conference pears, apples, plums, and various edible berry bushes directly from the trees and shrubs. Seasonal Items: On request, particularly around the Christmas period, rosehips, fir branches, and eucalyptus are available. Blossom branches may also be offered in spring. Beyond self-picking, the garden provides additional amenities and activities. It offers a terrace for customers, which will expand to a small Mediterranean-style indoor and outdoor terrace with a pond from 2026. The garden hosts Yin and Chair Yoga workshops outdoors, starting in 2025, and also offers creative workshops, unique photography sessions, and guided tours on ecological gardening and biodiversity. Gift cards are available, and bouquets can be pre-ordered for pick-up. A flower cart with plant cuttings is open during garden hours.

Bloemenboerderij Hemmekink is a flower farm and tea garden situated in Zelhem, Gelderland, within the scenic Achterhoek region of the Netherlands. The garden is owned by Hero and Joke Beukema, who started preparations in autumn 2019, aiming to create an oasis rich in diverse flowers and insects, complementing existing trees. In 2023, Joke partnered with Laura van Kleef, and the garden is supported by enthusiastic volunteers. It functions as a non-profit initiative, with all proceeds reinvested into garden improvements and supplies.

Corien Veron Bloemwerken Esbeek features a delightful self-picking flower garden, which is typically open from June through the end of September. Here, visitors can hand-pick a diverse array of colorful blooms. The garden cultivates approximately 50 to 60 varieties of flowers, all locally grown, organic, and unsprayed. Among the selection available for picking are asters, sunflowers, phloxes, cosmos, zinnias, dahlias, and various grasses. Pre-arranged bouquets are also available for purchase.

This flower and sculpture garden in Witharen offers a unique blend of nature, art, and relaxation. Visitors can explore a sculpture garden featuring over a hundred diverse artworks by various artists, as well as a vibrant flower garden that displays an array of blooms from spring through autumn, including tulips, dahlias, snowdrops, and grape hyacinths. The produce available for self-picking includes tulips, dahlias (in various forms and colors), sunflowers, grasses, zinnias, cornflowers, alliums, cosmea, and amaranthus, along with other seasonal flowers from the flower meadow. While a general entrance fee of €7.50 (in 2025) applies to the combined flower and sculpture gardens (with children under 12/14 entering for free), access to the picking garden is free for those who are solely there to pick flowers; the picked bouquets are then paid for separately, typically ranging from €15 to €20 for a generous bunch. Garden visits are free during the winter season.

Visitors can observe plants in their full glory in the dedicated mother plant beds. Throughout the year, De Boschhoeve hosts various events and workshops, with the annual Snowdrop Festival being a particular draw.

Kwekerij de Bascule is a self-picking farm and nursery situated in Hommerts, Friesland, conveniently located near Sneek and Bolsward. The farm is dedicated to sustainable practices, growing all its plants and flowers locally without the use of artificial fertilizers, chemical pesticides, or growth inhibitors, ensuring fresh, seasonal, and natural produce. Visitors are invited to explore the extensive gardens and pick their own selections. The farm provides baskets and shears, allowing guests to gather their preferred items. The self-picking season typically runs from March or April through October, with the garden reopening for self-picking in April 2025.

Zorgpluktuin ’t Voortje, situated in Mierlo, is a unique garden that combines a self-picking flower experience with social day care services. Founded in 2007 by Helmi and Willy van Heugten, the garden has steadily grown to offer a wide variety of flora. Visitors to the picking garden can create their own field bouquets from a selection of fresh flowers, grasses, and indigenous plants, many of which are not typically found in conventional flower shops. Guests are provided with a basket and scissors to gather their desired blooms and can arrange their bouquets at a dedicated table. The price of a bouquet is determined by measuring its circumference at the base. For those who prefer, custom-made bouquets can also be ordered, crafted by Helmi.

Naoberhoeve is a biodynamic care farm that harmoniously blends agriculture, nature, and social care. The farm features a diverse range of activities, including dairy farming with Fries-Hollandse cows, raising pigs and chickens for meat and eggs, and cultivating a tea herb garden with over sixty varieties for unique tea blends. Its farm kitchen prepares daily meals and processes fruits into delicious jams, while a forestry operation provides firewood. The farm’s extensive horticulture department cultivates more than forty different seasonal vegetables. These include spring turnip greens, and winter staples like sprouts and kale, alongside greenhouse crops such as tomatoes and cucumbers.

De Plukkerij is a self-picking garden, run by two sisters, Anja Peters and Ilse Rood, who share a passion for gardening. It offers visitors the opportunity to pick their own bouquets of flowers and engage in various creative activities. During the picking season, typically from early July to early October (July 2nd to October 11th for 2025), guests can choose from a wide array of flowers to create their own mixed field bouquets or color-coordinated arrangements. Self-pickable flowers include cosmea, zinnia, snapdragons, sunflowers, marigolds, echinacea, and ornamental grasses, along with many other varieties that bloom throughout the season. Scissors and a bucket with water are provided for convenience.
