Overijssel combines agricultural tradition with modern u-pick farms where fruit, vegetables, and herbs take center stage. The province is known for excellent strawberry picking farms, apple orchards, and raspberry bushes, while vegetable picking gardens offer fresh tomatoes, zucchini, and green beans. At pick-your-own locations in Overijssel, you’ll also find beautiful herb gardens with basil, tarragon, and rosemary for lovers of Mediterranean flavors.

The Bloemlokaal is a flower farm where flowers are grown with love and passion. The owner, Hanneke Miedema, makes bouquets and flower arrangements with flowers grown on her flower farm in Lettele in a nature-friendly way. The self-picking season is over for the year, the farm is closed for the winter. They expect to have more flowers from the first weekend of April. During the season, bouquets are made every Friday and Saturday afternoon. Customers can also buy loose flowers and create their own arrangements. The webshop is currently not active, however, bouquets can be ordered via WhatsApp. In spring, tulips and other spring flowers will be available, and in summer, summer bouquets. It is possible to purchase gift vouchers for summer bouquets via WhatsApp.

Janmaat Plantenteelt

Janmaat Plantenteelt is a farm in Bruinehaar, Netherlands, specializing in the cultivation of various crops and flowers. They grow sugar beets, grain, potatoes, tulips, peonies, dahlias, and pumpkins. During the growing season, they offer direct sales and a ““pick-your-own”” experience for flowers and pumpkins. They also host wood-burning workshops and offer a nature retreat called De Merel. The farm emphasizes sustainability and craftsmanship. Upcoming events include wood-burning workshops on February 15th and 19th, and March 8th, with a Dahlia sales day planned for March 15th. Nieuwe Akker

De Nieuwe Akker is a self-picking farm located between Schalkhaar and De Vijfhoek (Deventer-Oost) where you can harvest your own vegetables. All produce is grown without pesticides or artificial fertilizer. By purchasing a harvest subscription, you become a member and can harvest fresh vegetables every week. Currently, there is a temporary membership stop due to high demand. You can join the waiting list for the next season (2025) via email.

Pluck Elke Dag is a flower farm where flowers, sculptures, and nature come together. Visitors can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, explore the sculpture garden, pick their own bouquet in the picking garden, buy a gift in the boutique, or enjoy a cup of coffee and cake in the brasserie or during a picnic. The farm is open daily from late March to the end of October, except for Tuesdays, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entrance to the sculpture and flower garden costs €7.50 in 2025. Entrance to the picking garden is free for flower pickers.

De Dolle Deel

De Dolle Deel is a unique farm located in the countryside, near Hoonhorst and about 8 kilometers from Zwolle. During the summer period (July 9th to August 30th, Wednesday to Saturday from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM), the farm offers a corn maze, a relaxing terrace with a playground for children, and a flower-picking garden. In the flower-picking garden, visitors can pick their own bouquets. It’s a self-service system, open daily, and operates on an honor system where you pay for your flowers via QR code or cash.

De Greftenhoeve

The Greftenhoeve is a blue berry farm specializing in fresh consumption. A large portion of the harvested berries are sold at the Fruitmasters auction in Geldermalsen, while the rest is sold on-site. Customers can purchase pre-picked blueberries or pick their own at the self-picking field. Other available produce includes red and black currants, and gooseberries. During the off-season (September 16th to July 1st), frozen blueberries are sold, also through their webshop.

De Bessentuin

De Bessentuin is a self-picking farm located in Brucht, near Hardenberg, Netherlands. Founded in 1999, they initially focused on blueberries but have expanded to include various soft fruits. Visitors can pick their own blueberries (from July to September), red currants, black currants, white currants, raspberries (June and July), blackberries, red gooseberries, and green gooseberries. The farm is designed to be accessible for people with mobility aids and strollers. The farm offers a shop selling fresh and frozen fruit, jams, sauces, chutneys, juice, wine, liquor, ice cream, and beer, with products sourced from the farm and other regional producers.
