Zeeland farms

Zeeland, surrounded by the sea, has a unique climate perfect for growing vegetables and fruit at pick-your-own farms. The province is known for its excellent potatoes, onions, and carrots, but also for sweet strawberries and juicy plums at fruit picking orchards. Vegetable picking gardens offer fresh pumpkins, cabbage, and beans, while herb gardens benefit from the salty sea air with fresh thyme, rosemary, and lavender.

Plantalia is a self-picking farm located on Landbouwweg in Ritthem. In the spring of 2023, they acquired a new plot of land, which is certified organic, allowing them to grow organic vegetables directly. They previously had a location that was in conversion to become organic. The new, larger plot allows them to scale up production and grow a wider variety of crops, including crops that require longer growing periods. They rely on support from volunteers for tasks like planting and harvesting potatoes, garlic, and onions, as well as weeding. Last season, they grew sunflowers (for eating and oil), Jerusalem artichokes, daikon radish, leeks, bunching onions, and celeriac. They also planted garlic, fall onions, sea kale and spelt, rye/vetch as green manure. They successfully grew a small batch of potatoes and tested with dry beans.

Theeschenkerij de Pluktuin

Theeschenkerij de Pluktuin, formerly known as Sint-Anthonijshoek, is a tea room and self-picking farm located in Koudekerke, Netherlands. Founded on November 17, 2021, the business is run by Marisa, along with her mother Marion and Nicky. Besides offering coffee and tea, they sell homemade cakes, breakfast and lunch dishes. Marion also runs her ““M Servies en meer”” business from the location. The adjacent self-picking garden, managed by Marisa van Sint-Anthonijshoek, allows visitors to pick their own annual flowers during July and August.

Bloemenboerderij Pluktuin Hof Zjevernie

Hof Zjevernie is a flower farm located on a former farm from 1922 in Oostburg, Netherlands. They grow beautiful flowers without artificial fertilizers and pesticides, following the rhythm of the seasons, available from March 2025. Bouquets can be ordered by phone, app or through their webshop. It is affiliated with SlowflowersBelgië. Visitors can pick their own bouquets from the flower field, which will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 PM to 5 PM, starting in March 2025. Besides flowers, they also sell fruit, vegetables, (goose) eggs, juices, and jams, mostly unsprayed. The farm features a snowdrop garden, a daffodil picking garden, a tulip picking garden, and a summer flower picking garden.

Landwinkel Schorre

Schorre is a unique location on the Zeeland coast near Vrouwenpolder, Netherlands, offering a campsite, vacation rentals, a farm shop (““Landwinkel””), and an orchard. The owners are Martin and Carien Duvekot. The campsite has 25 spacious pitches with electricity, a playground, and allows dogs (limited quantity). The heated sanitary building includes facilities for disabled guests, as well as washing machine and dryer. The campsite is open from March 22nd to November 1st in 2025, and reservations can be made online starting December 2, 2024.

Sint Anthonijshoek

Sint Anthonijshoek is a farm located on the edge of Koudekerke, near the beach in the Netherlands. It is run by the Aarnoutse family, who have been farming there for generations. It offers a variety of accommodations including studios for rent and a mini-camping site with 25 spacious pitches. All long-term pitches are fully booked for 2024. They also have beach houses for rent. The studios are equipped with amenities such as free parking, Wi-Fi, a kitchenette, a private terrace, private bathroom, and luxe boxspring beds. Near the studios there are supermarkets and a bakery.

’t Blommerondje Pluk- en Theetuin is a self-picking farm and tea garden that is open from May to October. In the garden you can pick your own flowers. There is also a tea garden with coffee, tea, soft drinks and cake. For children there is a playground and petting zoo. From July there is also a maize maze. The tea garden is open from June. The petting zoo opened in 2024 and features goats, sheep, chickens, peacocks and rabbits.

Landwinkel Weststrate

Landwinkel Weststrate is a farm shop in Middelburg, Netherlands, with a rich history. Founded in 1959 as a mixed farm, it specialized in fruit cultivation in 1990, now boasting 13 hectares of orchards. The shop sells their own fruit alongside a wide range of artisanal farm and regional products from other local producers. They offer gift packages, artisanal meats from a local butcher, and various regional products. They also sell Berg Toys trampolines and have a terrace where visitors can enjoy refreshments.

Pluktuin La Fleur

Pluktuin la Fleur operates six flower-picking gardens in Zeeland, West-Brabant (Netherlands), and East Flanders (Belgium). Though the season is over and the gardens are being prepared for 2025, during the season, from late March to September, visitors can pick their own flowers in a pleasant outdoor environment. The gardens are open Monday to Saturday from sunrise to sunset, with some location exceptions. The flowers available include a wide variety of blooms, promising longer vase life due to their freshness. Children are welcome to independently pick the flowers they like. The gardens are unmanned, operating on an honor system with payment options including cash and online payment via QR code (with a small transaction fee). Picnic tables are available at each location.
