Hortus Populus
Hortus Populus is a Roman-themed pick-and-harvest garden located in Bodegraven, dedicated to sustainable cultivation, healthy eating, and community connection. Spanning 2.5 hectares, the farm offers a variety of produce, flowers, and experiences, all grown without pesticides or artificial fertilizers. The garden operates from March through November, with the streekwinkel (farm shop) and flower garden open for self-picking from May through November. The farm shop stocks local vegetables, fruit, herbs, jam, syrup, tea, and other regional products. In addition to self-picking, Hortus Populus offers workshops and activities including Roman cooking, botanical drawing, willow weaving, and foraging walks. The garden is wheelchair accessible and suitable for children.
