Berkenbroek Blauwe Bessen

Berkenbroek Blauwe Bessen

This farm, located in Wittelte and Darp, focuses on growing flavorful fruit with a strong emphasis on natural cultivation methods. Since its establishment in 2014, the farm has utilized natural fertilization, pest control through beneficial insects, and pollination by local beekeepers and wild bees, avoiding chemical pesticides. Cultivation occurs across various settings, including foil greenhouses, rain-covered areas, and open fields, allowing for a prolonged harvest season that extends from mid-May to November.

The farm primarily produces strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Additionally, it experiments with growing other fruits such as cherries, gooseberries, redcurrants, and blackberries. Blueberries are typically harvested from July to September, raspberries from June to November, and strawberries from mid-May to September, with different varieties selected to ensure a continuous supply.

Visitors can purchase fresh fruit, homemade juices, and syrups from a self-service stand in Wittelte, which operates daily from late May to late October. The farm also participates in various regional fairs and markets.

For a direct farm experience, blueberries are available for self-picking at the Darp location during their harvest season. During these self-picking moments, visitors can also enjoy refreshments and homemade blueberry tart.
