Land en Boschzigt is the oldest biodynamic farm in the Netherlands, cultivating vegetables, fruit, and herbs since 1947. Located near Hilversum and ’s-Graveland, it features a natural food store within an old garden shed, offering freshly harvested produce. They also have a restaurant in a modern greenhouse where the chickens used to live.
The farm offers a self-harvesting program where you can purchase a share (€425) for a season and harvest your own vegetables. You can pick vegetables directly from the farm.
What visitors say
This location is a highly-regarded spot in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Visitors rave about the atmosphere, often described as a relaxing haven and a “paradise in the Gooi”. The organic focus is a major draw, with many appreciating the fresh produce sourced directly from their own gardens and fields. A popular destination for walkers, it’s seen as an ideal place to start or break up a hike.
The on-site shop offers a good selection of organic and biodynamic products, though one reviewer found the assortment similar to that of other organic grocers. There is also a farm where you can pick your own vegetables if you have a subscription. The food, while simple, is generally considered delicious, with vegan options available. The outdoor seating is particularly appealing in warmer weather, offering scenic views of the gardens. Some reviewers find the tea could be stronger and the service sometimes a little disorganized. Some reviewers note that the quality of the coffee has declined since the restaurant changed ownership and that the prices are relatively high. The location is especially family-friendly, and the staff are usually friendly. Some visitors appreciate that the location provides opportunities for people with mental challenges to participate in meaningful work.
