Boerderij Ruimzicht is a biodynamic and nature-inclusive farm nestled in Halle, Achterhoek. Emphasizing a holistic approach, the farm is committed to sustainable practices, holding Demeter certification. It operates with care for the soil, plants, animals, and people, fostering a living cycle. Calves stay with their mothers in the family herd, cows retain their horns, and animals largely graze outdoors. The farm is energy self-sufficient, utilizing solar panels and a wood gasifier, and has been free of chemical treatments since 1998.
Visitors can explore the farm through guided tours or a picturesque 1.5 km walking route called the Hazenpad, which features informational signboards. The farm offers a variety of engaging activities, including workshops for cheese making and cooking over a wood fire, as well as “Boer’nTafelen” (farmer’s dining experiences featuring wood-fired pizzas and seasonal dishes). Educational programs are also available through a farm school for children and internships for students, sharing knowledge about their sustainable practices.
For those interested in gathering their own produce, an annual berry picking day is organized, where guests are invited to self-pick red and white currants, bringing their own containers.
Beyond this self-picking opportunity, Boerderij Ruimzicht cultivates and produces a diverse range of goods. The market garden provides fresh vegetables, various fruits such as strawberries, blackcurrants, Japanese wineberries, plums, blackberries, pears, and apples, along with herbs and flowers. The farm’s dairy processes its own raw milk into Achterhoekse Bergkaas, quark, panir, and will soon offer yogurt. Meat products (beef, pork, and eggs) from their humanely raised animals are also available. Grains like rye, wheat, oats, and barley are grown for both animal feed and human consumption, including freshly baked bread.
These farm-fresh products are available at the on-site farm shop, open on Fridays (10:00-18:30) and Saturdays (10:00-16:00). The shop also stocks other organic groceries and features a terrace where visitors can enjoy coffee and homemade cake. Additionally, the farm maintains a market stall in Doetinchem every Tuesday (9:00-13:00), selling vegetables, cheese, dairy, and bread. Their panir and yogurt are also distributed to Odin stores nationwide. Unique, naturally tanned biodynamic cowhides are another product offered by the farm.
