Boer Gijs

Boer Gijs

Boer Gijs is a family-run fruit farm and orchard shop located in Houten, Netherlands. The business, which represents the fourth generation of the Jongerius family, cultivates fruit on 28 hectares of land, approximately half planted with apples and half with pears. The farm grows several apple and pear varieties and is especially known for being the proud grower of the Zonneglans (Sonnenglanz) apple, a unique yellow variety introduced in 2018 that offers a sweet and mildly acidic flavor, a firm bite, and a low-allergen profile.

During the picking season, visitors can self-pick fresh fruit and flowers in the orchard and in designated flower strips. Guests are welcome to walk through the orchard and experience how the fruit is grown. The farm’s cold storage is powered by 900 solar panels, allowing for sustainable, year-round storage of the harvest.
