Boer Janmaat in Bruinehaar is a pick-your-own flower and pumpkin farm with a seasonal pluktuin. From mid-August until October, visitors can pick dahlias and other flowers in the dahlia field. The farm also grows tulips in spring and pumpkins in autumn, though in 2026 there is no pumpkin-picking field. Instead, pumpkins are sold ready-harvested from a roadside stall.

You pick your own bouquet in the flower fields, using scissors and a basket provided at the shed. Payment is based on the size of your bouquet, measured against a marked stick: €4, €8 or €10. For tulips, you pay per stem. Pumpkins are weighed and priced by the kilo. You can pay in cash at the shed or by card at the roadside stall.

The dahlia field is open from mid-August to October, Wednesday to Sunday, 10.00 to 20.00. The farm also sells pre-cut flowers, including peonies in May and June, from the same stall. Peonies cannot be picked yourself—they are cut and wrapped by the staff.

Boer Janmaat is a working arable farm growing sugar beet, grain, potatoes, carrots and other crops alongside its flowers. It also offers wood-burning workshops year-round and a small retreat space called De Merel, available for half-day bookings from April to October. Parking is available behind the farm buildings.

What visitors say

Visitors pick beautiful flowers here, and the farm is also a nice spot for a small team outing or a girls’ night. The flowers are praised as lovely, and while some pumpkins might be picked over by late October, the selection is still good. Kids enjoy the play facilities—a little house, sandpit with toys, and pedal cars—plus a spooky tunnel near the entrance for extra fun.

Prices are fair, and the experience is straightforward. Most people leave happy, though if you arrive late in the season, you might miss the best produce.
