Boerderijautomaat Van Ginkel's fruitteeltbedrijf

Van Ginkel fruitteeltbedrijf is a fruit cultivation company situated in Achterveld, at Emelaarseweg 3b. It is located in the rural area between Leusden, Achterveld, and Hoevelaken, to the east of Amersfoort.

The farm’s primary focus is on blueberry cultivation, which is grown on the largest scale. Visitors have traditionally been able to self-pick blueberries, with their harvest season typically running from early July until late August. In addition to blueberries, the farm also cultivates plums, which are harvested from mid-July to mid-September, and figs, picked from early September to mid-October.

While the option for self-picking blueberries concludes as the season progresses (for instance, it ceased as of August 18 in a recent update), the farm’s produce remains available for purchase. Items can be acquired via a farm vending machine or through an order form. The farm vending machine generally operates from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, but is closed on Sundays and may be temporarily out of service at other times.

What visitors say

Visitors consistently praise this self-picking farm for its delightful experience and high-quality produce. The blueberries are a major draw, frequently described as delicious, fresh, and remarkably large, with many enjoying the fun of picking them firsthand. This self-picking option often comes with a discount and is believed to enhance the taste of the berries. Beyond blueberries, the farm also offers gooseberries, plums, and figs.

The facilities are well-regarded, featuring a pleasant setting, a convenient plot size for picking, and ample parking located right next to the fields, which is particularly appreciated by families with young children. Benches are available for guests to relax and savor their freshly picked harvest or treats purchased from the on-site stall. This stall offers a variety of appealing items, including delectable blueberry scoop ice cream or sorbet made from their own berries, homemade jams, pure (unsweetened) blueberry juice, and local honey. Payment is flexible, accepting both cash and card. Overall, the experience is enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff, making it a highly recommended destination for fresh fruit and an enjoyable outing.
