Cadsand Fruit Zaamslag offers opportunities for self-picking fruit and flowers, along with a self-service fruit stand.
Visitors can pick their own apples and pears during designated “Zelfplukdagen,” which typically occur on two Saturdays in September, from 10:00 to 16:00. These fruit-picking events are held at the “Op Noten” orchard on Schepenlaan, located south of the Othene district in Terneuzen, which is a separate location from the farm’s main address. For fruit picking, guests should bring their own bags, crates, or boxes. Payment is accepted in cash or via a QR code using a Dutch banking app, as no card machine is available. There is no entry fee, and activities like a treasure hunt and a ride on the “stoofpeerexpress” are free. Self-pickable apple varieties include Jonagored, with Goudreinet also available for gathering from a bin. For pears, visitors can pick Conference, Doyenne du Commice, and St. Remy stewing pears, while Gieser Wildeman stewing pears are also available for gathering from a bin. During these days, coffee, tea, and apple crumble cake are served, and apple juice is available for purchase.
Additionally, the farm features a self-picking flower garden, open daily from June until the end of October, from sunrise to sunset. Situated next to their orchard, this self-service garden allows guests to gather their own bouquets of field flowers. Clippers and buckets are provided, but personal tools are also welcome. Payment for flowers is determined by the thickness of the bouquet and can be made in cash via a money box or by scanning a QR code with a Dutch banking app.
A self-service fruit stand, known as the “Fruitkar,” is available on the farm from the apple and pear harvest season until early March. This stand sells pre-picked apples and pears grown on the farm. Apple varieties include Santana, Jonagored, Novajo (Jonagold), Elstar, Wellant, Goudreinet (Rode van Boskoop), and Cox. Pear varieties offered are Conference, Doyenne du Commice, Gieser Wildeman stewing pear, and St. Remy stewing pear. Payment at the fruit stand is also by cash or QR code.
