Heerlijkheid de Hare is an organic self-picking farm in Oldemarkt, Netherlands, operating as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative. The farm grows a variety of small fruits and vegetables for its subscribers. Access to the gardens is available seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset. The farm is open daily from 08:00 to 18:00. Fruithof de Struikrover is a self-picking farm and orchard located in Oldeholtpade, Friesland, situated a short distance from Wolvega. Established in 2013, the farm offers a wide variety of fruit and flowers that visitors can pick themselves. The entire farm is cultivated using organic methods, with no pesticides used. Visitors can pick a diverse selection of fruit, including more than 20 different types. The main crop is the blueberry, but the farm also produces strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and red, black, and white currants (including green gooseberries and jostaberries). Other less common fruits available for picking include honeyberry, tayberry, elderberry, rosehip, quince, medlar, sea buckthorn, chokeberry (aronia), Japanese wineberry, figs, and cherries. The picking season runs through the summer months, from approximately mid-June to mid-September.

De 'Boerenshop'

The Tulpenpluktuin in Marknesse is a flower garden that focuses on self-picking tulips. Established in 2006, it features a 5,000 square meter garden planted with over half a million tulips. Many different varieties and colors are planted throughout the garden, with new blooms appearing daily during the season. A 5-meter observation tower offers a view of the polder and the historic harbor town of Blokzijl. The garden is designed with wide paths that are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. On site, there is a central square called the Tulpenplukplein, which includes a terrace with a view of the tulips, a car-free play area for children with bicycles, tractors, and a trampoline, and the Boerenbol refreshment stand offering coffee, soft drinks, snacks, and picnic bags. Visitors can enter the garden for a fee and purchase a bucket to fill with up to 30 tulips. A guide on how to properly pull and care for the tulips is provided.

Stichting Fruithof Frederiksoord

Fruithof Frederiksoord is a living outdoor museum and heritage orchard spread across 8 hectares in Frederiksoord, Netherlands. It serves as an important gene bank, preserving over 550 different historic fruit varieties, about half of which hold an “urgent” heritage status. The orchard is a park-like environment with smaller plots surrounded by flowering trees, shrubs, and berries, and is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. It features a historical grapevine greenhouse and a nature path called the “Struunpad,” which includes an insect tower for wild bees.
