At CSA Tuinderij Plantalia in Ritthem, you pick your own organic vegetables, herbs and seasonal fruit from May to November. The farm grows over 40 types of vegetables, including courgettes, tomatoes, beans, carrots, beetroot, kale, spinach, leeks and various cabbages. Herbs include basil, parsley, dill, coriander and thyme. Strawberries are available in season, and the farm plans to add more fruit bushes in the future.

Plantalia works on a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model. Instead of paying per kilo, you buy a harvest share at the start of the season. This covers a weekly supply of fresh produce, which you pick yourself from the fields. Shares are available for a single month, the full season or a full year. Prices for the 2026 season start at €295 for an adult, with discounts for children. A trial month costs €45. If you prefer not to pick, the farm can harvest your share and deliver it to a collection point in Middelburg or Vlissingen for an extra fee.

The farm is open during daylight hours, with no fixed opening times. You can visit by appointment or join one of the regular “Rondje tuinderij” tours during the season. Parking is wheelchair-accessible. The farm also organises harvest festivals and volunteer mornings for those who want to help with planting, weeding or other tasks.

Plantalia grows all produce without pesticides, artificial fertilisers or animal manure. The farm is certified organic for its new location and works to promote biodiversity. Students and HZ University staff receive discounts.

Oest Farm & Stay in Ritthem is a pick-your-own farm set in a six-hectare food forest and permaculture garden. Visitors can harvest seasonal vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers and edible plants directly from the land between April and September. The farm grows a wide variety of produce, including leafy greens, root vegetables, berries, apples, pears and nuts, as well as edible flowers and wild herbs. A separate vegetable garden managed by a local grower supplies additional seasonal crops like tomatoes, potatoes and courgettes.

Theeschenkerij de Pluktuin

At Theeschenkerij de Pluktuin in Koudekerke, visitors can pick their own flowers from the adjoining pluktuin. The field grows annual flowers, available to cut during the picking season from April to October. To pick flowers, you first check in at the tearoom. Baskets and scissors are provided. You pay for what you pick by the stem or bunch—prices are set by the farm. The flowers are grown on-site, and the selection changes as different varieties come into bloom.

Sint Anthonijshoek

Sint Anthonijshoek in Koudekerke is a working arable farm with a pick-your-own flower field. The field is open from late July until the flowers run out, usually by early autumn. Visitors pick annual flowers such as cosmos, zinnias and sunflowers, which are sown each May. The farm does not guarantee which varieties will be available, as the crop depends on the weather. You pay a flat fee of €5 per bouquet, regardless of size. The farm provides scissors and a wooden crate to collect the stems; you tie the bouquet yourself at one of the tables. Children must be supervised. The field is open during the same hours as the on-site tearoom: Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 to 17.00.

Landwinkel Weststrate

Landwinkel Weststrate in Middelburg is a pick-your-own fruit farm with a farm shop selling regional produce. The farm grows apples and pears on 13 hectares of orchards. Visitors can pick Elstar and Goudreinet apples, and Gieser Wildeman and Winterriet cooking pears during the annual Plukdag, held in September. The farm also hosts a Bloesemdag in April, when the orchards are in bloom, and a Boomgaardfair in August, featuring local stalls, food, and activities.
