The Groenteschuyt is a community garden initiative in Schuytgraaf, founded in 2013 by local residents as the “Biologische Buurtmoestuin Groenteschuyt” association. It consists of individual garden plots for members and a shared community garden. The garden is located between the De Buitenplaats care farm and the Nuon heat transfer station.
The “Hoogstambrigade Schuytgraaf,” a volunteer group, maintains the fruit trees in the area, originally planted in 2007. They prune the trees from October to February and the community is welcome to freely pick the fruit. The orchard includes apple and pear trees.
The “Wijnschuyt” (wine area) grows grapes, with varieties like Bianca and Rondo planted in April 2024.
Besides the above, the garden also features a herb garden from which visitors can pick lemon balm.
