De Jachthoeve is a care farm, farm shop, pick-your-own garden, and tea room located at Roekelse Zandweg 7a in Wekerom, nestled on the edge of a forest. The establishment operates from Tuesday to Saturday, between 9:30 and 16:00.
A central feature is its fruit orchard and flower garden, which offers visitors the opportunity to pick their own produce during the season, typically from June to November. For self-picking, the farm provides a diverse selection of fruits including gooseberries (red, white, and green), redcurrants, blackcurrants, kiwiberries, Dutch strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, honeyberries, blackberries, tayberries, boysenberries, and plums. Flowers are also available for picking. Visitors can inquire at the farm shop for picking baskets and scissors for flowers, and it is recommended to check their website or social media, or call ahead, for current availability of specific fruits. The fruit orchard also features a scavenger hunt, making it an engaging visit for children.
The farm shop, run by employees of the care farm, sells a variety of homemade and regional products. These include juices, different types of nuts and nut mixes, baking mixes, chocolate, homemade jams (from their own fruit), local honey, dry sausages, eggs, Dutch apples, and seasonal fresh fruit sold in baskets. Additionally, it offers Bunzlau Castle crockery and textiles, as well as custom-made serving boards and birdhouses. An online webshop also provides e-number-free spice mixes.
The tea room and terrace invite guests to enjoy coffee or tea with homemade apple pie or cheesecake. Special “Tea Indulgence” packages are available, offering a selection of sweet and savory snacks and various teas, with options for on-site enjoyment or takeaway. There’s also a “Girls’ Tea Indulgence” designed for groups of children, where they can participate in preparing some of the treats. The farm is also a suitable stop for those on walking or cycling routes, offering a specific walking package that includes refreshments.
De Jachthoeve functions as a care farm, providing structured daily activities and support for (young) adults with intellectual disabilities, psychological issues, or non-acquired brain injuries, involving them in tasks across the fruit orchard, kitchen, shop, and general farm maintenance.
