De Pluktuin - het Natuur Atelier

De Pluktuin - het Natuur Atelier

Het Natuur Atelier, situated at Kleine Achterweg 28 in Naaldwijk, is established within the expansive 4000m² English-style visitor garden known as De Pluktuin Naaldwijk. While it began in 1995 as a self-picking garden, it has since evolved into a visitor garden, and self-picking of produce is no longer available.

The establishment specializes in crafting custom-ordered flower arrangements and bouquets year-round, which include seasonal field bouquets, bridal flowers, funeral arrangements, and a notable focus on hay fever-friendly options. Flowers for these creations are, where possible, sourced from their own biological garden or from other sustainable growers. Services extend to flower subscriptions and delivery within the Westland area.

Beyond flower services, Het Natuur Atelier offers a variety of creative courses and workshops from Monday to Saturday. These include flower arranging, botanical drawing, mosaic work, weaving, and painting on wood, often available as individual sessions or group outings, sometimes combined with a High Tea. For those who prefer creating at home, DIY kits with instructional videos are also offered.

Visitors can enjoy High Teas and lunches, served either outdoors in the garden or in the ‘Binnen Tuin’ (indoor garden). These are available for groups by appointment and for smaller parties by registration, typically from mid-May to early October. Various group arrangements are also available from mid-April to early October for special occasions or outings.

The garden itself is open for individual visits on designated “Effe tuinen” open days, where guests can take a leisurely stroll, enjoy coffee, tea, and homemade treats, and appreciate the seasonal blooms and greenery. Group visits are welcomed throughout the year by prior arrangement. The location is closed on Sundays.

What visitors say

This charming establishment, known as a “picking garden” or “self-picking farm,” consistently receives high praise for its exceptionally beautiful and meticulously maintained gardens and greenhouses. Visitors are enchanted by the diverse array of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees, finding numerous cozy and often hidden seating areas throughout the lush environment, perfect for relaxation, especially during the spring and summer months. Many describe it as a tranquil paradise or an oasis of peace.

The farm is highly recommended for its welcoming and friendly staff, who are noted for their passion and helpfulness. Beyond simply enjoying the serene surroundings, guests can partake in a variety of engaging activities. Popular options include creative workshops like flower arranging and mosaic making, often paired with delightful culinary experiences such as well-catered high teas and delicious lunches. The on-site tea garden offers excellent coffee, fresh tea, and homemade treats like apple pie, and several visitors highlight the availability of healthy, locally sourced honey from a small bee colony.

This location is particularly favored for social gatherings, including family reunions, ladies’ parties, and unique events like baby showers, where the personalized service and ambient setting contribute to an unforgettable experience. While the name suggests self-picking, one visitor noted that flower picking is sometimes handled by staff to ensure quality, and another observed some areas might pose challenges for wheelchair access due to dense growth. Despite these small details, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return, some having been loyal visitors for over a decade.
