Located on the fertile clay soils of the Zeeland island of Noord-Beveland, De Pompoenwinkel is a family-run farm shop and pumpkin garden situated on ’t Hof Geersdijk, just outside the village of Geersdijk. The business began as a roadside stall in 2005 and has since grown into a full-fledged operation, with a renovated 1890s machinery barn serving as the charming farm store.
From August through December, visitors can self-pick pumpkins directly from the extensive pumpkin field, known as the Pompoentuin. The garden features a winding path that takes you past pumpkin terraces, a herb garden, and one of the few artichoke fields in the Netherlands. In 2024, the site also introduced a dedicated pick-your-own flower garden, or Pluktuin, which opens earlier in the summer (from early July) and features over 60 varieties of blooms, including a dahlia patch and a perennial flower garden.
During the pumpkin season (August through October), the pumpkin garden and fields are open for exploration. The farm shop itself is open seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM throughout the season (August through December). The business also hosts events such as an annual Halloween day on the last Saturday of October, and offers group activities like guided tours, workshops on dried bottle gourds, and hearty farm lunches. The upper floor of the barn serves as a meeting space for up to 20 people and is decorated with a collection of dried bottle gourds.
