De Wickevoorter Stadsboeren is an urban farm located at Oldenburgerlaan 2 in Cruquius, within the Wickevoort residential area. This farm operates on a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, focusing on providing fresh, healthy, sustainable, and local organic produce, while also fostering community engagement and a connection to food production.

Visitors can actively participate in the farm’s offerings, which include:

  • Self-harvesting Garden (Zelfoogsttuin): Members can pick their own vegetables, fruits, and fresh herbs directly from the land. The harvest season runs from mid-May through Christmas, with weekly harvesting opportunities. A limited winter harvest is also available in January and February. This garden provides 50-60 different types of vegetables per season, with fresh herbs always on offer. Harvesting is possible Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM until sunset.

    • Self-pickable vegetables include: Potatoes, strawberries, endive, Batavia lettuce, celery, kale, Chinese cabbage, Chioggia beets, green cabbage, sugarloaf chicory, field peas (kapucijners), garlic, kohlrabi, curly endive, spring onions, Lollo Bionda lettuce, mesclun (cut lettuce mix), New Zealand spinach, black kale (palmkool), parsnips, leeks, rapini (raapsteel), radicchio, radishes, various types of lettuce (red oakleaf, red, general), arugula (rocket), Russian kale, Swiss chard, runner beans, green beans (including purple ‘Purple Teepee’ variety), spinach, Brussels sprouts, Tatsoi, tomatoes, broad beans (fava beans), lamb’s lettuce (veldsla), fennel, winter purslane, winter carrots, chicory (witlof - both roots for forcing and forced heads), white dead-nettle (leaves), white cabbage, and summer carrots.
    • Self-pickable herbs (also available in the self-harvest garden): Basil (green and purple), chives, savory, nettle, lemon balm, hyssop, coltsfoot (flowers/leaves for tea), lovage, marjoram, mint, nasturtium (flowers, leaves, seed pods), oregano, dandelion (leaves, roots, flowers), parsley, salad burnet (pimpernel), celery (general and cutting celery), and thyme.
  • Flower Picking Garden (Pluktuin): From July until the end of September, visitors can pick beautiful field flowers to create their own bouquets. These flowers are grown organically, without pesticides, and support a varied insect population. The flower picking garden is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

    • Self-pickable flowers include: Marigold (goudsbloem), hyssop (flowers), Chinese cabbage flowers, nasturtium (flowers), dandelion (flowers), purple basil (flowers), purple dead-nettle (flowers), arugula (flowers), Russian kale (flowers), and white dead-nettle (flowers).

In addition to self-picking, the farm features a shop selling a wide range of organic products, including seasonal vegetables from their garden, meat from their chickens and pigs, homemade jams, ice cream, tea blends, dried herbs, salves, and other local biological items like dairy, bread, and grains. Weekly organic vegetable boxes are also available for pickup. The farm hosts various activities throughout the year, such as farmer’s dinners, high tea, and group events, and offers opportunities for volunteering and internships, aiming to connect people with their food and the natural environment.
