De Tilgrupshof is a self-picking farm in Appelscha, Netherlands, cultivating ecological vegetables since January 2024. The farm is part of an area focused on increasing biodiversity through ecological farming practices. Members, called “oogstgenoten” (harvest companions), pay an annual fee for the right to harvest their own vegetables and herbs for about 30 weeks, from mid-May to November. They can harvest 4 to 5 days a week. The farm operates on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) principle.
The farm uses no chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers, focusing on soil health and biodiversity.
Potential crops throughout the season include:
- Spring: Winter purslane, garlic, turnip greens, radishes, brown beans, kohlrabi, endive, pak choi, peas, arugula, pointed cabbage, bulb fennel, spinach, chard, red cabbage, rhubarb, green asparagus, lettuce, and herbs.
- Summer: Broad beans, peas, courgettes, summer purslane, pak choi, New Zealand spinach, pointed cabbage, garlic, onion, beetroot, carrot, beans, potato, leek, corn, lettuce, and herbs.
- Autumn: Beans, courgettes, sweet potato, black radish, turnip, artichoke, pumpkin, yakon, celeriac, chard, Jerusalem artichoke, leek, kale, lettuce, and herbs.
The farm is open from sunrise to sunset for members. New members can register by sending an email with their name, address, phone number, and the number of adults and children in their household. The yearly fee for the 2025 season is €275 per harvest share, with discounts for children.
