Erf Janz

Erf Janz is a pick-your-own farm, garden, and care farm located in Voorthuizen. It combines a flower and fruit picking garden with a tea shed, farm shop, and an artisanal ice cream maker. The site is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 16:00 PM, and is closed on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Visitors can pick their own flowers and small fruits directly from the garden. The self-picking season for flowers and soft fruit runs from July 7th to October 23rd, 2026. Available products include a variety of seasonal cut flowers, both fresh and dried, as well as red fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Tree fruit is also available seasonally, depending on what the trees yield. Visitors are provided with a basket and scissors or a small knife. The farm works only with natural means to promote biodiversity.

In addition to self-picking, Erf Janz houses an artisanal ice cream maker that is open during the high season on the same days and hours. A farm shop sells products, including homemade herbal teas made from herbs grown in the garden. The farm also operates as a day-care facility for adults (including elderly individuals and those with care needs), offering activities like gardening, animal care, and working in the tea maker’s kitchen. The atmosphere is described as informal and cozy. On-site amenities include a toilet, free street parking, and a free parking lot. The location is wheelchair accessible with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking. Payment is accepted by pin, credit card, and contactless mobile payment. The site is suitable for children and groups.

What visitors say

This self-picking farm is largely praised for its appealing location and the warm, friendly demeanor of its staff and owners. Guests frequently highlight the relaxing atmosphere, making it a great destination for families and children, with opportunities to pick various flowers and seasonal fruits like blackberries and raspberries.

The farm features a well-stocked shop offering a range of delightful products, including homemade ice cream, jams, dried herbal teas, and unique small gifts. Many visitors enjoy stopping for a refreshing drink, such as herbal tea or coffee, often accompanied by an apple pastry, while taking in the pleasant garden views. It’s noted that the farm serves as a day activity center, with some products crafted by individuals with disabilities, adding a meaningful dimension to its operations. The business is also seen as actively growing and expanding, with many reviewers expressing their intention to return.

However, some recent feedback points to areas for improvement. A few visitors experienced a noticeable lack of staff presence or greetings upon arrival, leading to frustration and disappointment when seeking assistance or wishing to make purchases. One review expressed dissatisfaction with the limited selection of pickable flowers due to many still being in bud, deeming the price for a small bouquet too high. Additionally, while one visitor characterized the ambiance as ‘outdated,’ the owner clarified this aesthetic is a deliberate ‘retro’ choice. Issues with unclear signage were also mentioned.
