Floratuin Julianadorp is a flower and flower bulb specialist located in Julianadorp, in the heart of the world’s largest contiguous flower bulb region in North Holland. The farm offers a variety of activities and products for visitors and customers.
A key attraction is the Tulip Pick-Your-Own Garden, which opens annually from April 1st and remains open as long as the tulips are in bloom, typically until mid-May. Here, visitors can self-pick their own bouquet from over 150 varieties of fresh tulips from the field, at a cost of €0.35 per tulip. The picking garden is also noted as a picturesque spot for photography.
Beyond self-picking, the location features a sprawling 7000 m² show garden where visitors can admire an extensive and often exclusive assortment of flowering bulbs from late March to mid-May, with free admission and parking. The on-site store is open year-round for purchasing flower bulbs, including summer bloomers like dahlias, begonias, gladioli, ranunculus, anemones, zantedeschias, lilies, and amaryllis, as well as spring bloomers such as tulips, crocuses, hyacinths, alliums, muscari, and narcissi. These can be ordered online for delivery or picked up at the store.
Floratuin Julianadorp also caters to wholesale customers and offers business gifts, providing personalized options for various flower bulbs. During the winter season, specifically from November 24th, the farm transforms into a Christmas tree drive-thru, offering Nordmann firs and festive decorations.
The farm operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with seasonal adjustments for Sunday openings during peak flower and Christmas seasons.
What visitors say
This self-picking farm offers a delightful experience for flower enthusiasts and families alike, particularly praised for its extensive “pick-your-own” tulip garden. Visitors, including children, cherish the unique opportunity to select and cut their own fresh tulips, typically priced between 25 and 35 cents per stem. Beyond the hands-on picking, the farm features beautifully arranged show gardens, displaying a stunning diversity of over 200 tulip varieties, alongside narcissus, hyacinths, and other seasonal bulbs, many boasting exotic names. This allows guests to appreciate the flowers in full bloom before deciding which bulbs to purchase.
The establishment is also highly regarded for its wide assortment of flower bulbs available, either for immediate purchase or through pre-order for autumn delivery, often with free shipping for larger orders. Customers frequently commend the friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff, who offer valuable advice on selection, storage, and planting. The overall atmosphere is consistently described as pleasant and welcoming, complemented by amenities like free parking and a bouncy castle for children, making it an ideal family outing.
While experiences are largely positive, some visitors highlight that optimal timing is crucial for seeing the tulips at their peak, as flowers can be largely bloomed or withered later in the season. Although generally considered affordable, a few perceive the self-picking price as slightly high compared to roadside vendors. A single, notable negative review reported a poor sprouting rate for purchased bulbs, an issue the owner promptly offered to address as an unusual occurrence. Nevertheless, many loyal customers regularly return, appreciating the quality bulbs, diverse selection, and inspiring environment.
