Fruithof de Struikrover is a self-picking farm and orchard located in Oldeholtpade, Friesland, situated a short distance from Wolvega. Established in 2013, the farm offers a wide variety of fruit and flowers that visitors can pick themselves. The entire farm is cultivated using organic methods, with no pesticides used.
Visitors can pick a diverse selection of fruit, including more than 20 different types. The main crop is the blueberry, but the farm also produces strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and red, black, and white currants (including green gooseberries and jostaberries). Other less common fruits available for picking include honeyberry, tayberry, elderberry, rosehip, quince, medlar, sea buckthorn, chokeberry (aronia), Japanese wineberry, figs, and cherries. The picking season runs through the summer months, from approximately mid-June to mid-September.
In addition to picking fruit, the orchard also grows a wide selection of flowers for self-picking. Cuttings, plants, shrubs, and seeds are also available for purchase. The farm features a tea house near the entrance where coffee, tea, lemonade, and smoothies are served during the season. A viewing tower offers a panoramic view of the orchard, and there is a sand and water play area for children. The farm is open for fruit and flower picking on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the picking season. Outside of the picking season, it is open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the sale of cuttings, shrubs, seeds, and plants. The farm is not open on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays. Payment can be made with debit cards, credit cards, and contactless mobile payments. Toilet facilities are available on-site.
