Graashoeve Amelte in Assen is a pick-your-own flower and vegetable garden that works on organic principles. The farm uses no-dig methods and Bio-kultura compost, letting visitors harvest seasonal produce and cut flowers from raised beds. You bring your own basket and scissors, and pay for what you pick.

The garden is open from spring until autumn, with the exact season depending on what is ready to harvest. Current opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 13.00 to 17.00, and Friday and Saturday, 10.00 to 17.00. The farm is closed on Sunday and Monday.

The farm also runs a small shop selling its own meat, eggs, dairy and homemade meals, as well as local honey, tea, coffee and herbal products. In summer, there is a terrace where you can eat homemade cakes and other baked goods. The farm offers day activities for adults with support needs, and workshops and children’s parties on themes such as making kefir and painting.

Graashoeve Amelte keeps Black Angus cattle and pigs that graze in nature reserves in Drenthe, and chickens in a mobile coop that moves to fresh ground regularly. The farm sells frozen meat, eggs and dairy products from these animals in the shop and online.

De Marwijkshof in Marwijksoord is a pick-your-own farm where visitors can gather flowers, soft fruit and pumpkins during the harvest season. The farm grows dahlias, thornless blackberries and ornamental apples for picking, along with other seasonal produce available in the farm shop. The selection changes as crops ripen; in early October 2026, for example, blackberries, dahlias and ornamental apples were ready for picking, while other fruits like strawberries and currants had already been harvested.

Boerderijwinkel Hoorn

At Boerderijwinkel Hoorn in Huis ter Heide you pick your own strawberries during the season. The farm also grows asparagus, which is sold in the farm shop but not available for picking. Strawberries are picked from the field during opening hours; you check in at the till for instructions. The farm sells aspargeboxes—ready-made meal kits for two or four people that include asparagus, potatoes, ham, eggs and sauce. These can be ordered online for collection.

Oogstland

Oogstland in Zuidlaren is a community-supported regenerative vegetable garden where members pick their own produce. The garden grows a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs and small fruits, including familiar crops like carrots, lettuce, beans, courgettes, pumpkins and cabbage, as well as less common varieties such as meiraap, radicchio and chioggia beetroot. Membership works through a harvest share system. For the 2026 season, a full share costs €325, covering weekly access from mid-May to mid-December. Members receive a weekly email listing what is ready to harvest and where to find it in the garden. Picking is self-service, available any day from sunrise to sunset. Children under five pick for free; older children pay a reduced rate. Members bring their own bags or crates and a knife to harvest without damaging the plants. The garden operates on trust, with guidelines to ensure fair sharing among all members.

Pluktuin Ravenswoud

Pluktuin Ravenswoud in Ravenswoud is a pick-your-own flower garden where you cut your own seasonal blooms. The field covers about a thousand square metres and is open by appointment from June to September. For €7.50, you receive a basket and scissors to pick 20 stems, enough for a large, pesticide-free bouquet. The farm also hosts occasional open days when no appointment is needed; dates are posted on its Facebook page.
