Hazelland 10 is a 5-hectare agro-ecological estate in the Geerpolder, located between Zoeterwoude, Zoetermeer, and Leidschendam. It operates as a self-picking farm where members, called “oogstgenoten” (harvest companions), can pick their own vegetables, herbs, fruit, and nuts. The farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative, meaning participants do not buy produce directly but instead contribute financially to the farm for a season and receive a share of the harvest in return. No synthetic pesticides are used, and all planting and seed stock is organic. The farm is currently working toward official Skal biocertification.
The self-picking season runs from May through November. During this period, participants can harvest an average of five different vegetables each week, along with herbs. Typical produce includes various types of lettuce (such as oak leaf and romaine), mixed salad greens, snack cucumbers, mini and full-sized cauliflower, green beans, potatoes, onions, and zucchini (often available in abundance). Strawberries are sometimes available as an extra. The first weeks of the season offer a more modest harvest, while later weeks bring greater abundance. Fruit and flowers are not included in the standard share but may occasionally be available as an extra; once the fruit and nut orchards are established, these will be offered for separate sale.
The self-picking farm is located at Geerweg 10, 2381 LT Zoeterwoude. It is open during the harvest season (May through November) on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 10:00 to 17:00. The farm also offers opportunities for volunteering on Monday and Thursday mornings, and hosts community events such as a joint season start and an end-of-summer harvest feast. On-site activities include a nature walk called the Polderpad (a 3 km route), an evolution garden, educational panels, and public compost toilets.
What visitors say
This self-picking farm consistently receives high praise for its commitment to providing fresh, organic produce. Patrons frequently highlight the extensive variety of delicious vegetables and herbs on offer, emphasizing that all crops are unsprayed and meticulously cared for. For many, it has become a weekly ritual to harvest their own produce, enjoying the superb quality throughout the season. Beyond the excellent selection, the farm is celebrated for its family-friendly atmosphere, making it a delightful and accessible outing for children. Operating on a membership model, the farm also extends its organic offerings to include an egg subscription. One review, however, stands out as an anomaly, mentioning the location only in the context of a minor traffic incident, unrelated to the farm’s services or produce.
