Tuin Kansrijk is a biological self-picking farm located in Groenekan, The Netherlands. They focus on positive impact, from the ground to the consumer. They do not use pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or artificial fertilizer, for the benefit of the environment and the consumer. The farm offers fresh, locally grown produce with no storage or transportation involved, which provides the farmers with a fair price.

The farm allows visitors to harvest their own produce, offering a connection with nature and a sense of community. Visitors can enjoy picnics, relax, and engage in conversations with other harvesters.

Tuin Kansrijk addresses global issues such as climate change, waste, exploitation, fair pricing, community, and biodiversity on a local scale. They prioritize soil health through careful practices like minimal soil disturbance, no plowing, and feeding the soil life. They also focus on biodiversity.

As a self-picking farm, members pay a fixed annual fee to harvest their own vegetables, herbs, and small fruits weekly. The farm cultivates over 50 different varieties, including:

  • Spring: raapsteel and radishes
  • Summer: courgette and strawberries
  • Autumn: pumpkin and kale

Besides self-harvesting, the farm provides a space for relaxation, meeting others, connection, learning, and various activities.

Tuin Kansrijk operates as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm, where tuinders and members share the risks and the harvest. They are also a food community.

The farm has a shop where you can buy their own vegetables that are grown in the farm. The farm also has a tea garden where you can enjoy organic teas, coffee, juice and cake.

The farm also has a food collective called “de Kans”, with the goal of buying organic groceries from local organic producers.

Volunteers can also work on the farm, helping with planting, sowing, weeding, and more. Yoga classes are also organized.

The team consists of Vincent, Evelien, Jan, and Jesse, who are committed to connecting farmers and consumers, working with nature, and promoting local entrepreneurship, transparency, and sustainability.

What visitors say

Kansrijk is a pleasant and tranquil spot where you can acquire fresh, organic produce. Primarily operating as a subscription-based service for vegetables and fruits, they also offer loose produce for sale on Saturdays. You can enjoy food and drinks made with ingredients sourced directly from their garden and field kitchen, while relaxing on picnic benches surrounded by nature. Bloemenkans sells native organic flowers and plants on Saturdays as well. While the selection may vary depending on the season, harvesting your own produce can be a rewarding experience, resulting in incredibly flavorful meals. Besides the subscription, a shop provides an alternative to purchase fruits, vegetables, herbs and more. One reviewer found the price of self-made instant coffee in the tea garden (€2.50) to be unreasonable. But overall, visitors enjoy the beautiful picking gardens and the opportunity to harvest their own organic food for most of the year.
