Landwinkel Weststrate

Landwinkel Weststrate

Landwinkel Weststrate is a farm located in Middelburg, specializing in fruit cultivation with 13 hectares of orchards. The farm, which began as a mixed operation in 1959, evolved into a dedicated fruit farm after being taken over in 1990 by Harry and Heleen Provoost.

The farm hosts annual self-picking days, usually in the autumn, offering a family-friendly experience. During these events, visitors can pick their own Delcorf, Elstar, and Goudreinet apples. Additionally, Winterriet and Gieser Wildeman cooking pears are available for self-picking. These occasions often include warm waffles, drinks, children’s activities, and rides on a picking train through the orchard.

An annual Orchard Fair is also a highlight, transforming the farm into a bustling marketplace with numerous vendors, food stalls, and entertainment for all ages, including opportunities for apple picking, bouncy castles, and pony rides.

The on-site farm shop, Landwinkel Weststrate, sells the farm’s own freshly harvested fruits. This includes various apple varieties such as Delcorf, Elstar, Goudreinet, Wellant, Cox, Junami/Milwa, and Golden Delicious, alongside Conference, Doyenne du Comice, Gieser Wildeman, and Winterriet pears. The shop also features a broad assortment of artisan farm and regional products from partner producers. These offerings span fresh seasonal vegetables, soft fruits like strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, and currants (sourced from regional growers in summer), sustainably raised meat, diverse farmer’s cheeses, regional dairy items, artisanal sourdough bread, handmade chocolates, and other local specialties.

For refreshments, a terrace is available for coffee or juice, offering a space for children to play. The farm also operates as a premium dealer for Berg Toys, providing a show garden where various trampolines, go-karts, and other play equipment can be viewed and purchased.
