Lubosch Land

Lubosch Land

Lubosch Land is a nature-inclusive family farm located in Ransdaal, Zuid-Limburg, dedicated to sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and healthy food production. Established in 2021, the farm aims to actively contribute to a more sustainable food chain by working with nature and the local community.

The farm features several key areas:

  • A Food Forest (Voedselbos): Planted with numerous trees and shrubs since 2021, this area is designed to produce a diverse range of perennial and woody species, including fruits, nuts, seeds, leaves, and stems. While it will take many years for the forest to fully mature, the first harvests are anticipated after about five years. Currently, guided wild foraging walks are organized where visitors can learn about and taste existing wild edibles.
  • A Market Garden (Tuinderij): Here, annual crops are cultivated entirely without pesticides, following permaculture principles and focusing on soil health. Produce grown includes various vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruits. Specific items mentioned are collard greens, chard, beans, lettuce, kohlrabi, and different types of cabbage. Additionally, perennial fruit bushes yield redcurrants, gooseberries, Japanese wineberries, and other currants.
  • Natural Farming Project Fields: These fields, established in 2023 and 2024, adhere to “Do-Nothing Farming” principles, emphasizing collaboration with nature and minimal intervention.

Produce from the farm’s own land, including unsprayed vegetables and fruits from the market garden, is sold at the Lubosch Land Farm Shop (Boerderijwinkel). The shop, housed in a renovated former cow shed, also offers a seasonal and rotating assortment of other organic and local products like dairy, beverages, preserves, and baked goods. Customers can purchase ready-made vegetable boxes (groentetassen) for 2 or 4 people, filled with seasonal produce. If a specific item is not displayed, the farm team can harvest it fresh for customers.

While the farm does not explicitly offer general self-picking opportunities for visitors, it emphasizes direct sales of its own harvest through the farm shop, with the team picking items on demand. Guided wild foraging walks in the food forest provide a unique opportunity to learn about and sample wild edibles.

Beyond cultivation, Lubosch Land offers various experiences:

  • Guided Tours: Visitors can learn about the farm’s mission, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and the food forest and market garden. Tours often conclude with a tasting of farm products.
  • Workshops and Lectures: Focused on topics like natural farming and sustainability.
  • Event and Meeting Space: A renovated former cow shed is available for rent for educational events, meetings, or group activities, often including an introductory presentation or tour of the farm.

The farm shop has specific opening hours: Fridays from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 11:00 to 16:00. Lubosch Land is located at Ransdalerstraat 28, 6312 AH Ransdaal, and is easily accessible by public transport or car.
