Moestuin Vollenhoven is a historical, regenerative vegetable garden located on the Landgoed Vollenhoven estate in De Bilt. The garden is tended by a small team of dedicated gardeners and a group of volunteers, and it operates with a strong focus on biodiversity, soil health, and sustainable growing methods without artificial fertilizers or chemical pesticides. The site features historic greenhouses dating back to the 1800s and 1854, as well as a new 0.6-hectare extension added to the original one-hectare plot.
Visitors can self-pick flowers from the garden using a flower cutting card. This is available across four seasons, starting typically with forsythia, magnolia, and tulips in spring, followed by an abundance of dahlias, sunflowers, and asters in summer, and ending with artichokes, hydrangeas, berry branches, and Christmas greenery in autumn and winter. Self-picking can be arranged by appointment seven days a week.
The garden also offers weekly vegetable packages from May to November. For the 2026 season, these will run for 30 weeks and include a varied mix of seasonal vegetables, fruits, herbs, and preserves, available in medium and large sizes for pick-up at the garden on Wednesdays and Fridays from 15:00 to 18:00.
In addition, the garden hosts a range of workshops, including a full-day vegetable gardening course and a food preservation workshop. Scheduled workshop dates for 2026 include sessions on March 21, April 11, May 30, June 6, June 20, August 22, September 12, and October 17, with additional preservation workshop dates to be announced.
The business is operational. Its regular opening hours for package pick-up are Wednesdays and Fridays from 15:00 to 18:00. The garden is otherwise closed on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. On-site and free parking is available.
