OLGARDEN

OLGARDEN

Olgarden is a passionate gardener’s haven featuring a hobby nursery for annuals and a self-picking garden. The garden, which has been cultivated since 2019, boasts a mature section on the left side of the house, with borders showcasing various perennial plants, roses, shrubs, and annuals arranged in harmonious, often monochromatic, color schemes, alongside a vibrant “Oilily border.” Beyond this lies a developing shade garden intended to evoke a forest atmosphere, filled with diverse shrubs, trees, ferns, and other shade-loving flora.

The highlight for many visitors is the self-picking garden, known as the ‘Pluktuin’. Here, guests are invited to assemble their own beautiful bouquets. Available for self-picking is a broad selection of dahlias, annuals, perennial plants, and various filler materials. Scissors are provided for convenience. The self-picking garden is typically open during the season (from approximately mid-July to the end of September), specifically on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 to 17:00, and by appointment. The farm also offers workshops for groups, and can arrange flowers for special occasions like weddings or farewells.

Additionally, Olgarden operates a hobby nursery, specializing in cultivating unique annuals for both personal use and sale. Examples of specific annuals grown for sale include Ammi majus, Agastache Sanngria, Antirrhinum Potomac Orange, Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Cupcakes’, Dolichos lablab ‘Ruby Moon’, Helichrysum bracteum ‘Rose’, Nicotiana langsdorffii, Rudbeckia hirta ‘Sahara’, Tagetes ‘Linnaeus Burning Embers’, and Zinnia elegans ‘Dahlia Flowered Rose’. These plants can be ordered and collected by appointment from mid-May, with specific open days for the nursery, such as in late May.

The main garden can be visited by groups of at least 10 people by appointment from mid-June to late September, with an entrance fee that includes coffee or tea. Individual visitors are welcome during specific open days as part of the “Rondje Tuinen Twente” event, typically in June, August, and September, for a reduced entrance fee. Children accompanied by an adult enter for free, but dogs are not permitted on the premises.
