Op het Erf

The ““Op het Erf”” in Heeswijk-Dinther is a farm dedicated to showcasing the original landscape of the area. They use native plants and raise old breeds of livestock and fruit varieties. All meat comes from Brabant.

The farm features old landscape elements across 5 hectares, aiming to create a nature-rich environment. There is a focus on attracting birds through planting, hedgerows, and a coppice woodland. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of the Aa valley.

““Op het Erf”” emphasizes high-quality, flavorful products. Their free-range pigs, organic chickens, sheep, and cattle are raised with space and time to mature, enhancing the meat’s taste. All meat is processed in their own farm butchery. They offer:

  • Free-range pork from the Aadaller pig
  • Organic chicken from the Kemper Landhoen
  • Beef from Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle (sourced from a local farmer)
  • Lamb from the Kempisch Heideschaap
  • Organic fruit

The pigs are raised without antibiotics or vaccinations.

The farm shop is open:

  • Thursday and Friday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

A terrace is available when announced on their social media.

You can purchase free-range pork, organic chicken, beef, and lamb, all from their butchery. The meat is vacuum-packed and frozen.

Orders can be placed online for home delivery or pick up at the store using a form to be emailed.

Visitors can enjoy pollarded trees, hedges, ponds, and an orchard, with views of the Aa river. The farm focuses on local products made on-site and processed in their own butchery, all sold in their farm shop.

It also offers a self-picking garden for flowers and fruit.

What visitors say

This establishment offers a delightful experience, combining a well-stocked shop with a welcoming atmosphere. The owners are known for their friendliness and helpfulness, offering as much information as customers desire, and the prices are reasonable. They offer quality meat products directly from the farm, with a focus on natural and additive-free options. Several reviewers specifically recommend the offal burger and balkenbrij (a type of sausage). The quality of the meat is a major draw, with some customers claiming they can no longer buy meat from supermarkets after tasting it here.

Beyond the shop, visitors can enjoy a pleasant farm setting. A “pluktuin” (flower-picking garden) offers a fun activity, especially for families with children. There’s also a lovely terrace behind the house where one can relax with coffee, tea, and apple pie. Furthermore, fresh apples and apple juice (particularly anticipated in October) are available. It’s worth noting that meat availability can vary depending on recent slaughters, so calling ahead is recommended, and online ordering is also an option. In addition to the shop and farm experience, the location also houses a swimming school.
