Pluk Vrolijk

Pluk Vrolijk in Almkerk is a seasonal pick-your-own flower farm and orchard. From mid-July to the end of September, visitors can walk through the fields to cut their own bouquets of seasonal blooms. The farm also has an orchard with seating areas where you can relax after picking.

You pay for flowers by the stem or bunch, using a bouquet template provided at the packing table. Payment is by QR code or cash. The farm supplies scissors and buckets, but you can bring your own container for transport. There is no fixed entry fee or minimum purchase.

The farm operates on a self-service basis during the pluk season. Opening hours vary and are announced weekly on the farm’s website, typically Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 17.00, with occasional evening sessions. The fields are closed on Sundays and Mondays. During busy periods, the farm may reserve the fields for groups or photoshoots, so it is best to check ahead if you plan to visit with a large party.

Pluk Vrolijk also runs Bak Vrolijk, a small catering service offering picnic boxes, cake tastings, and homemade drinks. These must be ordered in advance through the webshop and collected at the farm’s pickup point opposite the flower fields. Pickup times are fixed and separate from the pluktuin’s opening hours. The farm does not have a café or indoor seating; all food is meant to be enjoyed outdoors in the orchard or taken home.

Parking is available on-site, marked by pink flags. The farm has a basic off-grid toilet but no other permanent facilities. Workshops on flower arranging, baking, and seasonal crafts are held at a separate location in Raamsdonksveer and must be booked in advance. The farm is run by a family and is open only during the summer pluk season.

What visitors say

Visitors come to Pluk Vrolijk for the flowers—especially the sunflowers in different colours—and the chance to pick their own bouquets. The garden is well laid out, with clear paths and plenty of variety, even in the evening when the light makes everything look even prettier. Most say the prices are fair, and the staff are friendly, pointing you in the right direction if you need help.

The farm also sells cakes and snacks, which people often eat in the orchard or at one of the picnic spots. The cakes get a lot of praise for how they look and taste, and some visitors order them for birthdays or gatherings. Kids seem to enjoy it too, though there’s no mention of special play areas. A few reviews note that the garden is peaceful and well-kept, with a welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing is more detail on what’s in season when, so you might want to check ahead.
