Ecologische Pluktuin “De Peel” is a self-picking flower garden and ecological nature garden located along a canal and bordering the forested area in the peaceful, historic turf village of Griendtsveen. The property includes a natural garden with wadis designed to support a wide variety of wildlife—including birds, butterflies such as the Swallowtail and Hummingbird Hawk-Moth, frogs, and other animals—with a separate designated area for flower picking to ensure these habitats remain undisturbed. In spring, visitors can pick tulips and other bulb flowers, such as Camassias in light blue and purple and tall purple Alliums, some of which can be taken with the bulb for replanting. As the season progresses into summer and autumn, the selection expands to include many varieties of dahlias, perennials, annuals, eucalyptus, grasses, berries, and sometimes fruit from the orchard when available. The self-picking season generally runs from April until late October, with the flower stall for cuttings also open during garden hours. The business is currently cash-only.
Beyond flower picking, the garden hosts a range of workshops, including Yin Yoga and chair yoga sessions in the open air, and art workshops led by a visiting artist. The property features a Mediterranean-themed terrace exclusive to customers, where coffee, tea, and lemonade are available on a self-service basis. Additional facilities include bicycle storage and a parking area for guests, and the site is accessible for wheelchairs and rollators when ground conditions permit. The garden is also available for photography sessions, private group visits, and nature tours by appointment.
