Stichting #FRUIT is a community-driven foundation in Sittard, Netherlands, focused on the care, preservation, and enjoyment of local fruit orchards and gardens. Visitors can pick fruit from over 300 fruit trees spread across various locations in Sittard-Oost. The produce and its estimated picking seasons are as follows:
- Cherries: Available primarily in June and July.
- Plums: Ready for picking in August and September.
- Apples and Pears: Best harvested in September and October.
- Other Fruit: Walnuts, and a few quince, can also be found on the trees.
- In the Pluktuin Marina Poussart, visitors can also pick flowers, herbs, and soft fruit (kleinfruit) when available.
Location and Access
The orchards and the pick-your-own garden are located in the Sittard-Oost neighborhoods of Haagsittard and Europapark, specifically around the Lahrweg and the square Luxemburghof. The high-stem orchard “De Lahrhof” is situated near a farm of the same name. The fruit along the “Fruit Oppe Grens” route is planted along the streets from Sallandstraat to Lahrweg, near the German border. This fruit is intended for everyone to pick.
