Pluktuin PlukWad

Pluktuin PlukWad

Pluktuin PlukWad is a community-focused garden situated on an ancient terp (artificial dwelling mound) in Wijnaldum, near Harlingen. The garden brings together a diverse range of activities and generations, serving as a vibrant space for nature, education, and connection. Its core mission is to stimulate biodiversity, offer a local and sustainable alternative to conventional cut flowers, and bridge the gap between the farmer and the consumer.

The self-picking garden is the heart of the site. From the beginning of July until late autumn, visitors can wander through a large field of flowers and create their own bouquets. The garden features a wide variety of cut flowers, including a large assortment of dahlias, and is planted with different seed mixes to promote biodiversity. The picking process is entirely self-service: visitors take a pair of scissors, select their flowers, and pay via a QR code or cash in a box.

In addition to the pick-your-own garden, PlukWad hosts an educational school garden project, a tea garden called Theetuin Pypskoft, a dye plant garden used for naturally coloring wool in collaboration with Wolkeamer Franeker, and a no-dig vegetable garden.

According to Google Business Directory data, the garden is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The garden is described as suitable for children and offers walking activities.
