Welcome to Pluktuin Wilde Weide, a small-scale, fully certified organic flower farm and pick-your-own garden located on the grounds of BoerBert, a biodynamic dairy farm in Kamerik (near Woerden). The garden covers 1500 m² set amidst a beautiful polder landscape, offering a sustainable alternative to commercially grown flowers. The focus is on biodiversity and environmentally friendly growing; no pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or chemical treatments are used. All blooms are grown in open soil from organic bulbs and seeds.
Visitors can self-pick a wide variety of seasonal flowers directly from the garden. The picking season starts in spring with tulips and ornamental alliums, and runs through October, when the garden reaches a colourful peak with a diverse range of dahlias. Throughout the season, a rotating selection of annuals and perennials is available. A self-pick bouquet consists of 10 stems for €8.50, with larger options of 15, 20, or 25 stems. A plukkaart (picking card) for multiple visits, as well as a plukbon (single picking voucher), are also available for purchase via the online shop. Materials such as scissors and twine are provided at the greenhouse; payment is made through QR codes, allowing picking even when no staff is present.
The garden is open during the growing season, which runs from spring (approximately April) through October. The picking area itself closes for the winter and reopens in the spring of 2026. Regular opening hours are Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 20:00, and Saturday from 08:00 to 16:00. The garden is closed on Sundays. The owner is usually present on weekday mornings between 09:00 and 13:00 (except Wednesdays). Free parking is available on site.
In addition to self-picking, the farm offers pre-made bouquets, buckets of 50/75/100 stems, and a flower subscription service (available for delivery). Workshops on bouquet-making and starting a pick-your-own garden are also organized on select dates (e.g., July 18 and August 15). The farm sources its flowers locally, is officially SKAL-certified organic (since summer 2025), and is part of a larger sustainable farm initiative that includes dairy production, farm shop, solar panels, and nature conservation.
What visitors say
Even towards the end of the picking season in late September, visitors will find a plentiful selection of flowers still available. The unique method of cutting stems at 40cm ensures a generous yield, often with multiple blooms per stem, making it a delightful experience to personally assemble a beautiful bouquet. For added convenience, payment is easily handled via QR code, and practical amenities like newspapers and tape are provided in the greenhouse for transporting your freshly picked flowers. Beyond the floral offerings, the location also presents opportunities for spotting various animals.
