The Plukweide is a self-picking flower garden located on the outskirts of Haarlem, at Tennispad 2, along the Spaarne in the Schalkwijk district. Operating seasonally from approximately June through October, until the first frost, the garden is freely accessible every day from sunrise to sunset.
Visitors to the Plukweide can pick their own bouquets, each typically comprising 20 to 25 stems. A single bouquet costs €10. For those wishing to visit more frequently, a punch card is available for €45, allowing 5 picking sessions during the 2025 season. Alternatively, a €150 annual subscription for 2025, known as a ‘Plukdeelnemer’ membership, offers the opportunity to pick a fresh bouquet every week throughout the season.
The garden adheres to sustainable and natural cultivation practices, refraining from using artificial fertilizers or chemical pesticides. Instead, compost is utilized to enrich the soil, fostering a healthy environment for insects. The Plukweide also prioritizes minimizing its environmental footprint by employing hand tools and sourcing local products. The garden is managed by Erwin and Merel since January 2020, and welcomes volunteers to help with various gardening tasks on Saturday mornings.
