Roks Streekwinkel is a family-run farm and countryside shop located in the polder area near the village of Fijnaart. The fruit farm has been active since 1964 and currently spans over 15 hectares of orchards. The farm grows a variety of fruit in an environmentally conscious manner and holds a Global-GAP certification. The attached shop, originally opened in 1975, sells produce from the farm’s own orchards alongside a range of artisanal regional products from local farmers and producers.
The farm offers self-picked apples, pears, plums, and cherries from its own orchards. The availability of these fruits is seasonal: the first new apples and pears are harvested from half August, plums are available from July to mid-September, and cherries are in season during June and July, depending on the spring weather. The shop also features a selection of seasonal produce such as berries.
The farm and shop are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 to 16:00. The business is closed on Sundays. The location is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking available. Payments can be made by debit or credit card.
What visitors say
This self-picking farm and its associated shop consistently offer a delightful experience for visitors. Patrons frequently commend the exceptional quality of the fresh, healthy produce, which includes a wide variety of delicious fruits and vegetables such as cherries, plums, apples, and pears, many grown directly on the farm. The selection has expanded over time to encompass an impressive array of regional and homemade products, ranging from juices and jams to artisanal cheese and meat, making it a comprehensive farm shop.
The establishment is highly praised for its hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, contributing to a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. It’s often described as a cozy and well-maintained space that provides a charming stop for a bike ride, and even offers educational tours for schools. Beyond the produce, the shop excels in providing unique gift options, including custom fruit and gift baskets, and some visitors particularly enjoy the delicious pancakes and fresh cakes available, hinting at an on-site cafe.
While a minor point was raised about the absence of fresh herbs and some items being perceived as slightly expensive, the overwhelming sentiment is that the products offer excellent value for their superior freshness and quality. Many visitors make a special trip to this “top farm shop,” finding it a highly recommended destination for anyone looking to enjoy local produce and a warm, inviting farm experience.
