Sociale Voedseltuin Pluk Wijhe is a pick-your-own garden in Wijhe focused on vegetables, fruit and herbs. The 5,000-square-metre plot grows potatoes, onions, garlic, beetroot, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, kale, pointed cabbage, beans, sweetcorn, pumpkins, courgettes, peas, broad beans and simple herbs. Fruit trees, berry bushes and other edible plants are being added each season.
The garden operates as both a self-pick plot and a production area. Visitors can harvest their own produce; part of the harvest is also distributed to households on limited budgets through local partners and the Voedselbank Raalte. The garden is open to everyone, with no registration required. Volunteers and participants work together on planting, maintenance and harvesting, and the site hosts regular volunteer mornings where tools and refreshments are provided.
Pluk Wijhe is open year-round, with activities following the growing season. Volunteer mornings typically run from 9.00 to 13.00 on selected Saturdays and weekdays. The garden includes a small shed with solar panels, a greenhouse installed in 2026, and plans for a camping area with a wooden deck for volunteers and visitors. There is no farm shop or café on site. Parking is available.
