Stadsakker Wageningen is a self-picking vegetable farm situated on the Wageningse Eng. It provides an opportunity for individuals to harvest their own produce directly from the fields. The farm originated from the De Nieuwe Ronde initiative and, as of 2024, operates as one of three independent self-harvest gardens.

Participation in the farm is membership-based, granting members 24/7 access to the fields throughout the growing season, which typically runs from late April to January. Harvesting is guided by a weekly list indicating available crops, and members are expected to pick sufficient produce for their household’s fresh consumption. Membership fees for the 2025 season are structured based on age: adults pay 255 euros, children aged 0-4 are free, 5-8 years cost 63.75 euros, 9-12 years cost 127.50 euros, and 13-18 years cost 191.00 euros, with a maximum family rate of 765 euros. Due to high demand, there is currently a waiting list, with estimated wait times ranging from 2 to 6 years.

The farm cultivates a diverse array of produce available for self-picking, with the selection varying seasonally, typically being more abundant in summer and somewhat more limited in spring and autumn. Crops that can be harvested include: Redcurrant, Strawberry, Jerusalem Artichoke, Endive, Chives, Beetroot, Kale, Courgette, Capuchin Peas, Garlic, Celeriac, Fennel Bulb, Cucumber, Kohlrabi, Corn, New Zealand Spinach, Pak Choi, Black Kale, Parsnip, Pattypan Squash, Snow Peas, Pumpkin, Leek, Turnip Greens, Rhubarb, Radish, Shallot, Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Runner Bean, Green Bean, Spinach, Pointed Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Broad Beans, Onion, Winter Purslane, Carrot, Summer Purslane, and Sorrel.

While not mandatory, volunteers are welcome to assist with various tasks in the vegetable, flower, or herb gardens, as well as with tool and shed maintenance, mowing, or pruning. The farm also functions as a recognized training company for those interested in cultivation roles.

The farm’s fields are located at Honingblokpad in Wageningen.
