Utrecht Natuurlijk operates a network of five city farms and six city gardens spread across Utrecht, providing green spaces and educational experiences for people of all ages. These locations offer visitors the chance to engage with farm animals such as donkeys, pigs, cows, sheep, goats, and chickens, and feature accessible natural playgrounds for children. Many sites also include farm shops that sell fresh local produce and cafes offering refreshments.
Several of these locations provide opportunities for self-picking:
- At Eilandsteede, visitors can pick their own herbs, edible flowers, and flowers for bouquets (for a fee).
- Kasteeltuin Nijevelt allows visitors to pick their own flowers during the summer mornings and can gather vegetables and fruit by arrangement with staff.
- Stadstuin Food for Good features a flower picking garden for flowers from mid-June to late October, and vegetable harvesting is possible upon request.
- Stadstuin Kanaalweg offers organic flowers and herbs for picking at a small charge.
- At Stadstuin Klopvaart, flowers can be picked for a fee from late June, and vegetables and herbs can be harvested by prior arrangement.
- Stadstuin Plutodreef allows self-harvesting of vegetables and herbs by asking staff.
- Stadstuin Zuilen has a harvest garden where visitors can pick their own vegetables on Friday mornings from May to October, and a flower picking garden for flowers on Sunday mornings from mid-June.
- Steede Hoge Woerd also has a picking garden open in the summer where flowers can be gathered.
Beyond self-picking, the organization promotes community gardening, hosts workshops on sustainable food production, and organizes various green activities and exhibitions throughout the year.
