Stadsboerin Doetinchem is a pick-your-own farm on the edge of the Kruisbergse Bossen, where you can harvest vegetables, herbs and flowers from the field. The farm grows over 50 types of produce, including tomatoes, courgettes, beans, pumpkins and leafy greens. What is ready to pick depends on the season and the harvest, so check the farm’s signs or ask the growers for guidance. You bring your own basket or bag, pick what you want, and pay at the shop.
The farm also has a flower field where you can cut your own seasonal blooms. A hand-sized bunch costs €9.50. The flower field is open daily from 10.00 to 16.00 from July onwards.
Stadsboerin is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00 to 16.00, and closed on Mondays. The farm shop sells fresh bread, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, jams, chutneys and frozen meat from its own animals. There is a small café serving lunch made with produce from the garden, including soups, salads, sandwiches and daily specials. The menu changes with what is in season.
The farm is wheelchair-accessible, with accessible parking and entrance. It runs workshops on foraging, bread-making and preserving, and organises Sunday morning walks through the woods followed by breakfast. Children can follow a treasure hunt through the gardens.
