Stadslandbouw Mooieweg is a community farm located in Arnhem-Zuid, operating as a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to urban agriculture. The farm’s main goal is to cultivate fresh, organic produce, with most of the harvest being donated to Voedselbank Arnhem (Food Bank Arnhem) to assist those in need. The site also serves as a vibrant green meeting place for volunteers and local residents.
Throughout the summer months, from June to September, the farm hosts “Zelfoogst Zaterdagen” (Self-Harvest Saturdays) every two weeks. On these days, visitors are welcome to pick their own fresh produce directly from the fields for a small contribution.
The items available for self-picking include:
- Various fresh vegetables
- Herbs
- Small fruits
- Starting in July, flowers and a selection of tropical vegetables are also offered, such as tayer, yardlong beans (kousenband), and bitter melon (sopropo).
In addition to self-picking, Stadslandbouw Mooieweg organizes open days, plant markets, educational activities for children, and guided tours. The farm also hosts a community restaurant in late summer, featuring meals prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients grown on-site. The farm shares its extensive grounds with a care garden, a sheep farm, and another market garden, contributing to a diverse and collaborative green space.
