Stadslandbouw Mooieweg is a community-driven urban farming initiative located on a plot of land in Arnhem-Zuid. Run entirely by volunteers, the farm cultivates fresh vegetables, herbs, and small fruits using organic and permaculture methods. The majority of the harvest is donated to the local food bank, Voedselbank Arnhem, to support those in need. The site also serves as a green meeting place for the neighborhood, offering opportunities for recreation, education, and social connection.
Visitors can self-pick a variety of produce directly from the fields during designated ‘Zelfoogst Zaterdagen’ (Self-Harvest Saturdays). These events take place every two weeks during the summer season, running from June through September. Available items include a diverse range of seasonal vegetables, herbs, small fruits, and, starting in July, flowers and tropical vegetables. In addition to self-picking, the farm hosts a plant market in the spring (around late May) and offers a weekly ‘Koffie in het Groen’ (Coffee in the Green) gathering from May to October.
The farm is open to visitors whenever the gate is open and people are present on the grounds. Regular volunteer work sessions, which are also open to the public, take place on weekday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 (from 10:00 to 12:00 during December and January). On Tuesdays and Fridays, afternoon sessions are also held. The property is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking.
