Stadstuin Food for Good in Utrecht is a community garden where visitors can pick their own flowers and seasonal vegetables. The garden grows a variety of produce, including herbs, vegetables, and flowers in a dedicated cutting garden. You can harvest what is in season, with the selection changing throughout the year.

The garden is open Monday to Thursday from 09.30 to 16.00. There is no entry fee, and you pay for what you pick by the item or bunch, with prices starting at €0.50. Freshly harvested produce is also available for purchase at the on-site stall. The garden encourages sustainable practices, such as using your own containers for picking.

Facilities include accessible paths, a wheelchair-accessible toilet, and parking nearby. The garden is part of Utrecht Natuurlijk, an organisation that manages several urban farms and gardens across Utrecht, focusing on community involvement, education, and sustainable food production. Volunteers and local residents work together in the garden, and guided activities are occasionally offered. The space is designed to be inclusive, with raised beds and accessible seating areas.

What visitors say

The Stadstuin is a welcoming spot where volunteers run a community garden open to everyone. Visitors describe it as a cosy, green oasis with fresh produce often available in a cart by the entrance—just help yourself and leave a donation. The atmosphere is friendly, with free tea, coffee, and snacks on offer, and the volunteers are happy to chat or explain how things work. Most people come to lend a hand in the garden rather than pick for themselves, but those who do find the vegetables fresh and the surroundings pleasant. It’s a relaxed place to wander, especially if you enjoy a social, sustainable vibe. A few mention it’s a great way to spend time outdoors with colleagues or friends, though it’s more about the experience than a traditional pick-your-own farm.
