't Blommerondje

’t Blommerondje is a pick-your-own garden and tea garden located in Zeeland, offering a pure experience for visitors.

The main attraction is the pick-your-own garden, where guests can harvest their own fresh bouquets of flowers. This garden operates on a self-service basis, with payment available via QR code or cash.

Beyond flower picking, the location features several other attractions. There is a tea garden offering coffee, tea, soft drinks, and pastries, as well as options for high tea and picnic baskets. While the pick-your-own garden is open from May to October (Monday to Saturday, 10:00-20:00), the tea garden, typically open from June with specific hours, is currently closed for the season.

For families, ’t Blommerondje provides a play and petting meadow where children can interact with various animals, including goats, sheep, chickens, peacocks, and rabbits. There is also a barefoot path and, from July, a corn maze, making it a natural playground. Children’s parties with different themes (crafts, high tea, pancakes, Indian, soldier) are also hosted, and craft packages are available.

The garden also includes a special butterfly garden, inviting visitors to discover insects crucial for good blooms. For those interested in learning, workshops, such as flower arranging, are offered.

The farm, run by Boudewijn and Maurieke Nieuwenhuijse, is situated at Oude Korte Noordweg 2, 4454 PC Borssele.

What visitors say

The venue is particularly cherished by families, offering a rich array of engaging activities tailored for children. These include a large play boat, a sandbox, various play structures, an interactive barefoot path, and a treasure hunt. A charming animal pasture, home to sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, geese, and rabbits, is another significant draw. Visitors consistently highlight the warm hospitality of the owner and staff, noting the establishment’s cozy, welcoming, and relaxing ambiance. The on-site tea garden is a popular feature, serving delightful treats such as tea, waffles with cream and strawberries, ice cream, and pastries, making it an ideal spot for a pleasant break or a high tea. Many describe their visit as a wonderful day out for all, although one reviewer noted its attractions might be more captivating for younger children.

While feedback is overwhelmingly positive, a few areas for improvement have been mentioned. One notably critical review described the farm as old and dilapidated, claiming that some advertised features were not evident. Another visitor, while appreciating the overall concept, observed that certain play equipment appeared dated and that shade was scarce in key areas like the barefoot path, animal enclosures, and the café. This visitor also suggested enhancing the barefoot path with more diverse textures for a richer sensory experience and noted that the petting zoo animals weren’t always eager to be petted. Despite these points, the potential and charm of the farm are widely recognized, with many hoping for continued investment in its development.
