Tuinderij de Hooge Oogst | Zelfoogsttuin

Tuinderij de Hooge Oogst is a self-picking garden located in Tiendeveen, within the municipality of Hoogeveen. Operating on a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, the garden invites members to subscribe for a harvest season and personally gather their fresh produce directly from the land.

Visitors to the garden can self-pick a variety of crisp, seasonal vegetables and herbs. The available produce includes items such as carrots, onions, lettuce, beans, and beets, with sporadic offerings of winter vegetables. Beyond culinary ingredients, members also have the opportunity to create their own bouquets from beautiful, colorful, and unsprayed flowers.

The farm is dedicated to sustainable and environmentally conscious practices, focusing on optimizing soil health through no-dig/no-till methods, utilizing natural pest control techniques like companion planting, and promoting biodiversity for a balanced ecosystem. Although it does not hold an official organic certification, the garden operates without the use of chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers.

Members receive weekly updates detailing what is ready for harvest and guidance on picking techniques. Harvesting is typically available on Monday mornings, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with flexible access for experienced members. The garden employs a solidarity payment system, allowing individuals to contribute based on their financial capacity to support the farm’s sustainable endeavors and ensure accessibility for a wider community. The primary harvest season generally spans around 25 weeks, from mid-June to the end of November, complemented by occasional winter harvests.
