Tuinderij de Hooge Oogst is a self-picking garden (zelfoogsttuin) located at Molenweg 37a in Tiendeveen, in the municipality of Hoogeveen. This community garden operates using a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, where members purchase a seasonal “oogstaandeel” (harvest share). The garden is run by a female entrepreneur and is suitable for children, offering kid-friendly activities. The focus is on growing fresh, unsprayed vegetables, herbs, and flowers, using no-dig (no-till) methods, natural pest control through companion planting, and promoting biodiversity.
Members with a harvest share can come to the garden to pick their own vegetables and herbs weekly. The picking season for the main harvest runs approximately from mid-June to the end of November, spanning about 25 weeks. Sporadic winter vegetables may also be available later in the year. In addition to produce, members can also pick their own flowers to create bouquets. The garden uses a solidarity-based pricing system, allowing members to choose a contribution level that fits their budget.
The garden is generally open for picking on Monday mornings, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, when the gardener is typically present. Once members are familiar with the layout, they are welcome to come at any time that suits them. Parking is available for up to three cars, with space for one more on the access path; coming by bicycle is encouraged.
