Van MOES is a self-picking farm situated at Streekpark Land van Kien in Sint-Oedenrode, Netherlands. It operates on a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, where members can directly harvest their own seasonal, local, and ecologically grown produce. The farm aims to foster a connection between individuals, their food, nature, and the local community.
The garden is cared for by two dedicated gardeners, Marianne and Susan, who oversee the planning, sowing, and maintenance of the diverse crops. They employ sustainable farming methods, including no-dig cultivation to maintain soil health, strip cultivation to encourage biodiversity and natural pest control, and crop rotation to prevent soil depletion, all without the use of chemical pesticides.
Members subscribe to gain weekly access to the garden throughout the harvest season, which typically runs from May to November. A weekly harvest share is available, with options for different household sizes, and a trial subscription is offered for those wishing to experience the self-picking process before committing. Members receive regular updates detailing which produce is ready for harvest each week.
Visitors to Van MOES can self-pick a diverse range of fresh vegetables and herbs, including:
- Vegetables: Potatoes, spinach, chard, kale, pointed cabbage, green beans, sugar snap peas, red onions, leeks, courgettes (zucchini), cherry tomatoes, carrots, beetroot, bell peppers, cucumbers, and lettuce.
- Herbs: Parsley, basil, and mint.
The farm promotes a sense of community, encouraging members to connect with each other, learn about sustainable gardening, and enjoy the experience of gathering fresh food directly from the land.
