De Woerdt is a family-run fruit farm located in Ressen, in the Betuwe region of the Netherlands, nestled between Arnhem and Nijmegen. Established in 1977, the farm cultivates a wide variety of fruits across more than twenty hectares of orchards.
Visitors have the opportunity to pick their own apples and pears on designated picking days. The farm grows numerous types of apples, including varieties like James Grieve, Elstar, Golden Delicious, and Jonagold, as well as several pear varieties such as Conference and Doyenné du Comice. In addition to apples and pears, De Woerdt also cultivates cherries, morello cherries, plums, and walnuts.
Beyond the orchards, De Woerdt offers a diverse range of facilities and experiences. The Landwinkel (farm shop) sells fresh fruit directly from their own trees year-round, alongside seasonal produce. It also features a wide array of products made from their harvest, such as jams, juices, ciders, honey, and apple chips. The shop extends its offerings to include regional delicacies and quality products from other local farmers, encompassing vegetables, cheese, dairy, eggs, meat, fish, and beverages.
The Boerderijterras (farm terrace) provides a welcoming spot for coffee, homemade apple pie, fresh fruit juices, and lunch. They also offer special High Tea and picnic arrangements. The terrace is family-friendly, complete with a play area and farm animals like ponies, rabbits, and pigs. For businesses, De Woerdt features modern meeting and conference facilities and provides a “Werkfruit” service, delivering fresh fruit to workplaces.
Educational excursions and guided tours are available, offering insights into modern fruit cultivation and the farm’s history. For those seeking an extended stay, camper places are offered amidst the fruit trees, providing a peaceful and natural setting with full amenities. De Woerdt is committed to environmentally friendly farming, holding GlobalG.A.P. and PlanetProof certifications for its apple and pear cultivation.
