At Heer Ikigai in Stompetoren you pick your own flowers and seasonal vegetables from a pluktuin and food forest. The farm grows over twenty types of cut flowers, including cornflowers, sunflowers, poppies, coriander, fennel and gypsophila, as well as summer grains such as wheat and oats. Vegetables include courgettes, beans, tomatoes, peppers and cabbage, depending on the season.
The pluktuin is open from late June until November, Friday to Sunday, 13.00 to 16.00. You pay for flowers by the bunch using a QR code at the small roadside booth on the car park. Check the farm’s social media before you visit to confirm what is in bloom. The food forest is open year-round, with volunteer work mornings on the second Saturday of each month from 09.00 to 12.00.
The farm also hosts seasonal events, such as an Indian Summer open day in September with workshops on fermenting and wild foraging, soup-making over a campfire, and a market with local products. Children can explore the food forest with a bingo card.
Parking is available on site. Dogs are not allowed in the food forest. The farm is run by a non-profit foundation and relies on volunteers and donations.
What visitors say
This is a relaxed, family-friendly spot where you can pick your own strawberries, flowers, and seasonal vegetables straight from the garden. The produce is fresh and full of flavour—visitors often mention the sweetness of the strawberries and the quality of the jam. Kids enjoy the hands-on experience, whether they’re plucking fruit, smelling flowers, or just exploring the space. The volunteers are welcoming and happy to help, making it easy to join in with light tasks if you’re interested.
The farm feels well-tended, with a greenhouse expanding what’s available. Prices are fair, and you can buy what you pick or take home other garden produce. It’s a good place to stop spontaneously—some people stumble upon it during a bike ride and end up returning. The only thing to keep in mind is that the best fruit can go quickly, so arriving early might mean a better selection.
